My small share of my mother’s ashes are in an elephant burial ground on a nature preserve in South Africa. She left HER share of her parent’s ashes in the water beside the Statue of Liberty. I was with her when she spread them. We sang Beatles songs and laughed so hard we cried, and cried so hard we laughed. She would be thrilled to know there’s a piece of her with the elephants. I still have a small vial of my father’s ashes. Time will tell where I leave them.
