 Texas is calling and I must go shirt

The Ring runs a full 20 minutes longer than the Texas is calling and I must go shirt, and nothing that was added really helps the film. If anything, it makes the characters both less relatable and the film less tense. Here we get a horse suicide and a long film editting lesson, but I honestly have no idea why either were added. They don’t help the central mystery, and they definitely don’t make the film any scarier. I’ll even go a step further and say, even with added background scares and a greater sense of urgency at times, the film feels less scary than the original. It just never really has that aura of people dealing with the end of their lives that the original did.
