This is a movie with an overuse of jump scares and Stay Over There Introvert Anti socialism Social Distancing shirt, both not being all that common to Nakata’s work at this time. This is a movie that seems to go by at too fast of a pace, something I would describe nothing else he has done. This is a film that apes elements from the original Ringu 2 mixed in with elements of Rasen, which is strange for a director who seems content making each film as unique a vision as possible. This is a movie that feels like parts were omitted in multiple key scenes, which makes the film incoherent at times. Something that describes none of Nakata’s other work. The film ends on a happy note, something that definitely doesn’t reflect the signature of the director.
