That’s not to say there aren’t flaws. The plot is better than its predecessor, but it still doesn’t make a whole lot of Peanuts Charlie Brown I Don’t Do Costume Halloween shirt. It’s kind of a retelling of The Ring Two of all things, but it definitely does better than that movie. For one thing, the kid is actually kind of creepy here! Who would have thought that having an actually creepy kid might help a film about a creepy kid. The plot also raises a lot of questions with basically no answers, which is fine sometimes but here it just felt like sequel baiting. A sequel, by the way, that we never got. Don’t expect any closure, in other words.
