Grandson Blanket – Blanket for Grandson

I read that Sally was the half sister of Grandson Blanket – Blanket for Grandson, Martha. She had been given to her sister as a gift from their father, and went with her when the Martha married Jefferson. So Jefferson inherited her as property when his wife died. Some time after the age of 14, she began having children by him, and all remained his property until his death, when he freed only 2 of their 6 children. Sally remained a slave until Jefferson’s sister freed her after he died.
