Amanda S Husted good point on paris and its density.. I was reading a response to amsterdam an didnt pick up you mentioned paris (very interesting). but as you mentioned the bike culture isnt as strong in paris and New Orleans Saints Superman means hope Batman your ass kicked shirt. most people who work in paris tend to live closer to wher the work. Paris si also a smaller city than NY so that does skew the number a little. most people cant afford to live in NYC (Manhattan) and they live in the outer boroughs or further and commute in via train. Typical travel time in nYC is 45 min to 1 hr away from the city. That doesnt really allow for using a bike to get around. NYC is a walkers city first – biking isnt really sensible.. The mass transit system needs to be updated.
