My mother was in a similar situation, although she’s not a doctor. When my parents got divorced I was 6, and my mother wanted to have a similar schedule to me. It was compounded by the fact that her job in computer science (she did account security for a bank) she would work up to early evening. Since she couldn’t leave me somewhere for hours she decided that she had to become a teacher.
